The longitudinal 6.0 litre V12 promises 630PS, sufficient to provide the totally confident driver to some stunning 330kph, dealing with 100kph in less than four seconds.

Electro-mechanical paddle-operated six speed transmission, a graphite and Nomex laminate body shell around a honeycomb aluminium monocoque tub, and race-specification braking system all indicate one thing - outrageous road performance.

The close-coupled two seater, also is being produced in racetrack- only form for endurance racing, comes as a coupe with removable cabin roof. Maserati's method of warning that Ferrari can't contain it all its own way.
