Mazda MX5 / Miata

Mazda MX5

A genuine open two-seater sports vehicle that reinterprets a tradition established through the Lotus Elan of 1962, MX5 - sold as Miata in many markets, and Eidos in others - emerges in roadster form only.

Engine options are non-existent, buyers being limited to the one - a 1.8 litre twin cam with variable valve timing pumping out 142PS, the perfect amount of power for the chassis co cope with. There are, however, three different transmissions to select from, a 5-speed or 6-speed manual, or perhaps a four speed auto.

These each provide a quite different feel, with sporting drivers opting for the sharp, close-ratio six speeder. Handling is neat and sharp in the rear-drive chassis, and in relation to fun per pound spent, there's little to complement this little machine.
